Moments along the way

I think I've become seriously addicted to Netflix programing. I love the ongoing seasons of television viewing. Series, I've missed, but am now glad, that I've had the opportunity to watch. Two of my fav, to date, are A Gifted Man and Drop Dead Diva.

                                                                   Drop Dead Diva

After Jeff cruised in to work yesterday morning, I poured myself a cup of coffee then hunkered down in the family room, to catch the beginning of season 2, Drop Dead Diva. Love the dialogue! Afterwards, I felt creative enough to pull together all the ingredients to make a beef/veggie crockpot stew. Setting the crockpot on low, I decided it was time to go out and about, run errands and get inspired about the changes we'll be making in a few weeks to our living room/dining rooms. My vision board for the rooms and their new layout have come together.

I've decided on the shades of gray and white (moldings, trims) I will be using. While browsing about JS West for ideas a coupla weeks ago... I came across a small red table. Out of all the things they have on the floor, this is what stuck with me. Yesterday, I decided that I so loved the red color that I will bring it into the new dining/sitting room by painting our coffee station red. Which will be located close to the foyer. It'll be one of the first things you see when entering. Speaking of which, I had found these wonderful coffee cups at Crate and Barrel that I really loved. White, basic, elegant. While walking through a local thrift shop (yesterday afternoon) I came upon the SAME white coffee cups. At .50 cents each how could I pass up a set of 8? Plus, I discovered a perfect basket to house them on the coffee station. All of these items were under $9. That is what I call VERY cool.

Also, I've selected photography prints from Shutterfly (wonderful, zany, poignant family moments) that will line the walls of our L-shaped hallway. When the kids were little I used to have the hallway lined with our pics.  I would lose people walking down the hallway to the bathroom as they stopped to look at our gallery. Then after the kids were grown and on their own, I've had artwork line the walls. Now with our latest make over, We're back to family walls, now with the addition of grandchildren and pets-- it's going to be a stroll down memory lane, literally.

I start the makeover in a coupla weeks, and am getting excited about it, now that the books, sculptures, artwork, etc., are mostly packed away out of sight. These will be replaced in new areas of the house. It's going to be a wonderful new year; new perspectives, creative challenges. Jeff will finally be putting his art studio back together, I have great ideas in creating my new writing nook, our master bedroom will be re-organised with shelving to go above the built-in credenza. The new color will be French lavender/white. It's been almost 4 years since I've done any room makeovers, and that's a long time for me to have things stay the same. My grandmother's house remained the same for 50 years and that was wonderful. For me, as I grow and evolve, I feel that my house should reflect those same changes. With 2 artists living under the same roof, I am surprised we don't have more changes... I'll be posting pics.
