the weekend is here!

                                                                         Midnight in Moscow

I had to begin my holiday post w/Midnight in Moscow as this always signals the kick off to this weekend (for me). It was one of my dad's favs. Holidays were embraced enthusiastically in my family and were celebrated w/ food, family and music. This song was always played while dad cheffed something up in the kitchen, then later, as my children were growing up I would put this on, while I cheffed something up in our kitchen for our family holiday weekend boating/camping get-away adventures, I think it's a way of drawing those close to us who are gone and remembering grand memories shared.

Jeff and I've had great conversation/coffee this morning before he had to cruise on in to work. It's a lovely, lovely morning. Blue skies, sunshine, cool temps.

The Indoor/outdoor gangs will be hanging out w/ me as I putter about the house throughout the day. Playing w/ the new kittens. What's on tap? Planning a new layout for the former dining room that is going to become my new writing room. Deciding on what type of new ceiling fan that will be going into the former living room that is going to be our new dining/sitting room, front window Roman-style blinds, curtains, etc. Reading, movies, and DE cluttering, actually, going through a few boxes to see what is going to be sent off to the thrift store. Working on Samanda's wedding album, ordering prints from Shutterfly, Should be a fun filled day....

Happy Memorial weekend!

It's going to be a fab holiday weekend! Jeff arrived home w/the kinda mail I like to receive. A movie I'd ordered a few weeks past arrived, I Don't Know How She Does It  (I love the movie set design) Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan.

And, BOOKS! In the midst of Samanda's wedding prep I'd completely forgotten that I'd rejoined Quality Paperback Book Club (that's a first!).  A BIG box of books. Bob Woodward's The Price of Politics, Capturing Camelot photography by WH Kennedy photographer Stanley Tretick w/ storyline by Kitty Kelly. American Beauty by Thom Filicia. Jackie After O by Tina Cassidy, The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe, Until I Say Good-Bye, My Year of Living W/Joy by award winning journalist, Susan Spencer-Wendel, about her battle with Lou Gehrig's ALS disease. Plus, I received this month's issue of HGTV magazine.

                                                                     Some Nights by Fun

Plus, I have 700 Samanda wedding weekend photos to sort through for family albums. Jeff has Sunday and Monday off, so I actually get a holiday weekend to hang w/ my fav guy. Pizza's ready. Love holiday weekends, did I mention that? Whatever you're doing this weekend, go out and enjoy!
